SKIN

Skin

And the names I cannot read ── what are they in there for?

HomeSkin

What is in the things you put on every day.

What I did first was nothing dramatic.

I read the back of what was already in the house, one after another.

Some names I could read. Some I could not.

A name you cannot read is not a bad thing.

Only ── I did not know what it was.

And I noticed I had been using it every day without knowing.

So here, I will not say what is good and what is bad.

I will leave a way of seeing, so that you can read it.

If you read it and still choose the same thing, that is fine.

01 / WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Not warnings ── things to look at

This is about what you can tell, if you look here while you are shopping.

So that you know what you are choosing.

  1. Look at the orderThey are listed from the largest amount down.

The first three tell you most of its character

  2. Count the names you can readHow many do you know?

If there is one you do not, look up just that one

  3. See what each one is forSome do the work, some make it spread, some keep it from spoiling.

    They have different jobs

  4. Shorter is not automatically betterA short list can still disagree with you.

A long one can have its reasons

  5. Fit it to the life you liveThe season, how dry the place you live is, a price you can keep paying.

This part is different for everyone

02 / WHAT YOU CAN MAKE

Starting from what you can do
One of them, you can make

Soap and balm

Soap

Oil, alkali, water.

Which oil you use changes how it leaves the skin.

Tinctures and oils

Tinctures & oils

Steep the plant, and what is in it moves across. It takes time, but there are few steps.

Loquat leaves

Plants

Plants that have long been used in care.

If one grows in your garden, you can start there.

Koji

It is food, but ways of using it on skin have been handed down too.

It connects back to the kitchen.

03 / A LONG TIME

Not a new idea

Loquat leaves, the water rice was rinsed in, koji ── there are records of all of them being used in care. Things said to condition the skin have been around a very long time.

How far any of it has been confirmed is another matter.

What science has settled. What is still being studied. What has long been said. What I have felt myself.

Keeping these four apart is how TANE works.

Being able to know it at all has value.

And from there, being able to decide which one you take.

04 / ONE THING TODAY

Read the first three lines
on what you already use

Ingredients are listed from the largest amount down.

So the first three tell you most of its character.

If one name is unreadable, look up only that one.

Read it, and if you think it is fine as it is, then it is fine.

Changing it is not the point. Being able to read it is the point.

VOICES

Words we were given

T.S / CA

She took her time and looked carefully at everything, starting from my surroundings, and we worked out together how to choose care that suits me. For me it was a real discovery.

M.K / AUSTRALIA

The way YUKI looks at skincare is genuinely wonderful. It starts with a careful conversation, and she listens honestly to what the person is troubled by and hoping for, and stays alongside them.

Y.M / AUSTRALIA

When we ran YUKI’s skincare session at our salon, the response from our customers was wonderful.

These are individual experiences we were given. They are not a promise of the same result.
